DETAILS-
Material – ABS
The raw material must pass the impact test before applying to the case. The durability and strength of the case are highly assured by our high-level QC requirements.
-
EPS Foam Core
The high-density EPS foam core inside of the shell ensures superb strength to protect the very heavy banjo instrument.
-
Deep Plush Lining
The high-density EPS foam core is covered by a dark blue deep plush lining which offers nice protection to the banjo.
-
No Touch Of The 5th Tuner
There's enough space for the 5th string tuner. Your banjo's tone is assured when you go around with the case.

- Body depth: 8 cm (3.15")

- Backpackable — Free Your Hands on Short Trips A banjo is heavy, but most of the time you're not carrying it far — you're walking it from the parking lot to the jam, from the hotel to the stage, or from your front door to the car. The CRA861/CRA865 ship with dual-shoulder backpack straps so both hands are free for a gig bag, a coffee, or a phone. The straps are intended for short-haul use, not trekking across a festival site: a resonator banjo is a heavy load, and we don't recommend backpacking it over long distances or for long durations. For short, practical carries where you want your hands back, the straps do exactly what you need.
- Dual-Fit Neck Cradle — One Case, Two Instruments Most banjo cases are built for either a 5-string or a tenor — the two neck lengths are different enough that a cradle shaped for one usually fights the other. The CRA861/CRA865 use a shortened neck cradle that lets the shorter tenor neck seat correctly while the longer 5-string neck still finds its position. The trade-off is a smaller accessory compartment in the neck block, but the payoff is a single case that covers both instruments — ideal for players who gig a 5-string bluegrass set and a tenor trad session out of the same case.
- Molded ABS Shell With EPS Liner The shell is injection-molded ABS — tough, impact-resistant, and far lighter than a wooden case of the same strength. Inside, a custom-molded EPS liner cradles the banjo body and neck, surfaced with a dense, low-pile plush velvet that won't pill or shed onto your hardware. The EPS is shaped to keep the resonator back and the bridge suspended away from the shell, so even if the case takes a hit in transit the force goes into the foam, not your banjo.
- Standard Handle And Latch Hardware The CRA861/CRA865 keep things simple and dependable with a standard molded ABS handle and standard metal latch locks. This hardware is lighter, lower-profile, and perfectly suited to everyday, short-haul use that doesn't involve airport screening. If you're not flying, you don't need a TSA cylinder — and you don't pay for one.
- Universal 14.25" Barrel — And When You Need Padding The internal barrel diameter is 14.25", sized to clear most resonator 5-string banjos (Mastertone-style instruments and similar) and most tenor banjos with resonator. If your banjo has a smaller rim — many open-backs and some lighter tenors — the body will sit loosely and you should add Removable Padding Strips to take up the gap and stop the instrument shifting. Removable padding is not included with this case so that players whose banjo already fits snugly don't pay for foam they won't use; it's available separately as a low-cost accessory.
